GROUP I EXAMINATION
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission is an independent body of the Government of Tamil Nadu that is responsible for conducting examinations for appointments to the various services of the Tamil Nadu State. It operates under Articles 315 to 323 of Part XIV of the constitution of India. TNPSC is to conduct various examinations like Group – I, Group – II, Group – IV and VAO (village Administrative Officer) for direct recruitment to the services of the state.
Group 1 examination is the only examination in the TNPSC through which you can directly get recruited to the highest position.

EXAM PATTERN
STAGE I
PRELIMINARY EXAM
- Exam type: Objective Type
- Subject : General Studies + Aptitude
- Questions : 200 (175+25)
- Marks : 300
- Time: 3 hours
STAGE II
MAINS EXAMINATION
- Exam type: Descriptive
- Subject : Paper I, Paper II, Paper III
- Marks : 750 (Each 250 Marks)
- Time : 3 hours (Each paper)
STAGE III
ORAL TEST
- Subject : Interview and Records
- Marks : 100
